The inaugural Scottish Cycling, Running and Outdoor Pursuits Show attracted more than 9,000 visitors at the SECC Glasgow last weekend. The huge three-day show was widely hailed a success by exhibitors and customers alike.

The event on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (March 11 to 13) delivered an interactive, informative and inspiring event for sports enthusiasts of all ages. Stands were taken by top brands, retail outlets, outdoors groups and well known organisations. There was also a host of interactive activities and challenges for people to try and a very popular interview theatre area with many high-profile sports guests. The atmosphere was described as “super friendly”, “up-beat”, “engaging”, “welcoming” and “fun”. Visitors also said:

“It was brilliant - great family day out. Well done on organising such ,a great event” Fiona Stewart

“Hope you will be running the show again next year. It appeared to be well attended and great for enthusiasts” Julie Thomson

Exhibitors talked of “great footfall”, “interested and interesting visitors”, “breaking into a new Scottish marketplace” and “a surprisingly great atmosphere”. Many have pledged to return to next year’s show.

“It was a really busy show and surpassed all of my expectations.” John Miller, CraftSportswear

“Our physio, massage and biomechanics diaries were full on each of the three days, indeed we had a queue form several times over the weekend! We met a lot of great people that we’ll be seeing again in the days and weeks ahead. It was a great success and we’ll see you next year, thanks guys!” Dr John A MacLean, Clinical Director, Hampden Sports Clinic

“Congratulations to the organisers, for a first year event it was excellent. There was a great atmosphere with loads of different activities spread around the hall. We saw a huge range of visitors from weight weenies discussing the finer details of the £10,000 Scultura 9000 Ltd to commuters wanting to see £400 hybrids. Our local dealers have already reported sales as a result of us being there. We will definitely be back for 2017.” Chris Carter, Merida Bicycles Ltd

The show organisers were also delighted with the weekend show. Event manager Julia Girvan said: “We were thrilled with the footfall and the engagement level from the customers. We believe we now have a strong platform to build and develop this show and we are excited about our plans to bring an even bigger and better show for the cyclist, runner and active outdoor enthusiast in 2017.”
